Toshiba Thrive makes the top 10 tablet PC computer by virtue of its brilliant High Res display and higher than market average, overall good specification.
Though very much a mobile device, with a small 8GB Hard drive expandable to 32GB with an SD Card upgrade, the “Thrive” is shipped with the same processor recently introduced into LG smart phones.

The Nvidia Tegra 2 Dual Core 1Ghz Mobile Processor, at the heart of the multi touch Toshiba Tablet, provides an effective processor for the function of the tablet, and 1GB DDR 2 RAM internal memory the usable minimum one would expect.
In many ways the mobile computing market is evolving like the desktop PC market over a decade ago, except the rate of change is EVEN faster with the tablet PC market.
The latest thrive is powered by Android 3.1 Honeycomb (the first were shipped with 2.2) and features a large 10.1″ High Resolution LED Screen, offering 1280×800, 720p 16:10 aspect ratio for wide screen viewing.
Webcams on the front and back, clearly high end at 2.0MP and 5.0MP with auto-focus respectively and replaceable Easy Grip Back Cover and battery.
There’s one USB 2.0 and a Mini USB, a HDMI and SD Card Slot making the extensibility as good as any tablet on the top 10 tablet PC website.
You also get the option of a multidock (sold separately) supposedly to view charge and connect more conveniently, though in reality its really just a stand to hold your tablet up to view, or if your connecting to a larger screen through HDMI.
One handy improvement feature is the Adaptive Display Technology which adjusts the brightness and colors depending on the amount of light available, handy at reducing annoying glare, a problem evident at least on some high end tablet computers.
On the software side, running Android 3.1 Honeycomb means its Flash compatible, something which has definitely worked in boosting Android’s popularity ahead of rival Apples proprietary OS.
Fully configurable for an individual preference with 5 colors grip back covers, the full specs are:
