Sony’s foray into the tablet device market continues apace with the S Series TouchscreenTablet with Android. As with Sony computer design in general, the look is stylish and smooth. The screen maxes at an impressive 1280 x 800 for a 9.4″ WXGA LED Touchscreen.
All connectivity, Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS and Gyro, Light and Accelerometer Sensors as standard.
There are three models available within the S Series – SGPT111 -112 and -114. All three have the same screen size but the 112 Model e.g SGPT112US has 32GB Storage, while the other 2 have 16GB.
Also the 114 version ships with Android 3.2 Honeycomb and 3G capability (increasing the weight by 30 grams) while the SGPT111 and SGPT112 are shipped with Android 3.1 (upgradable to 3.2).
At the heart of the S series tablet device is the Nvidia Tegra 2 mobile processor running 1.0Ghz. Emphasising extreme efficiency in power use, and 2 fast ARM processors with separate graphics modules and video than a regular 1.0Ghz chip so you cant compare to an Intel or AMD chip in the same way.
The Dual Core ARM Cortex A9 processor is a decent step up in speed from the original ARM 11 Tegra and was designed primarily for use with Tablets not just the smartphones the original Tegra were designed for.
In plain English, its considerably faster than for example, an Iphone 3GS while retaining the power efficiency of a smaller smartphone.
A weighty 5 megapixel camera and 8 hour battery life and a nice IR Remote Control allowing you to position your tablet a distance, and still switch applications are other reasons you may be paying more for this than a similar sized tablet.
Still, you get Front and Rear Cameras and 1GB RAM Memory and you will likely enjoy the viewing experience.

Summary
If you have the budget for this Sony tablet device, then you wont be dissapointed.
High end on almost all the specifications, with a crisp, auto-adjusting, multi touch screen it is comfortably amongst the top 10 tablet computers of 2011.
Similar to laptops, the Sony brand comes at a premium in prices for tablet devices too, so you could save 100 currency by sticking to the 111 model forgoing the 3G and extra 16GB Hard Drive. It would be a lighter tablet too.
